In week 20 freight rates in the Azov-Black Sea region continue to remain at USD 34 per tonne for shipments of 3,000 tonnes of wheat from Azov to Marmara Sea ports. Demand for grain in Turkey remains low. In addition, the strengthening of the ruble continues to complicate the conclusion of forward sales contracts. Shipments from river ports are also still facing weak demand, as most traders are waiting for the start of the new harvest season. Export duty rates on major grain crops will remain at zero for the fourth consecutive week from May 14 to May 19.
In the Baltic region, the coaster shipping market is relatively stable. Freight rates this week are holding at previous levels.
