In Week 33, the freight market in the southern regions of Russia remains challenging. In addition to the ongoing restrictions at the ports of the Azov Sea, difficulties are also being observed at Russian Black Sea ports. Due to continued attacks on terminals and vessels, an increasing number of shipowners are temporarily limiting calls at these ports. At the same time, cargo flows on the Caspian route continue to increase, with freight rates continuing to rise actively.
As of August 12, the export duty on Russian wheat will increase from the current RUB 5.7 to RUB 326.6 per tonne. The export duty on barley will remain at zero, while the duty on corn will decrease from RUB 137.2 to RUB 105 per tonne.
In the Baltic region, activity in the coaster market is picking up. Based on the current market dynamics, freight rates in the Baltic Sea may start to gradually increase next week.
