On the 52nd week, freight rates in the Azov-Black Sea region continued a smooth decline, dropping to the level of $ 72 for a shipment of 3,000 tons of wheat from Azov to Marmara Sea ports. More open vessels began to appear on the market for the beginning and middle of January, while the demand from buyers of Russian grains still remains at a fairly low level.
In addition, the export tax has risen strongly since December 28. Thus, it will amount to 4160.9 rubles per ton for wheat, for the export of barley — to 3420.4 rubles, and of corn — up to 692.6 rubles per ton. Moreover, it is important to note that this fee will be valid until January 10th. This way, the market does not expect grain trading to intensify during the New Year holidays.
In this regard, some shipowners became interested in cargo to more distant destinations, as Mersin, which also reflected a slight drop in rates. At the same time, the rates for Italy continue to remain high due to the reluctance of shipowners to take cargo in this direction.
